Stunning antique secretary with warm caramel-brown wood tones and beautifully varied grain. Features scalloped detailing above the glass panes, slender horizontal glazing bars, and a vertical plank back. Three shelves rest on traditional notched wooden supports, allowing their height to be adjusted.
The slant-front writing surface opens to reveal fitted cubbies and a small central drawer, with pull-out wooden supports beneath. Two small drawers over two full-width drawers provide additional storage, finished with turned wooden knobs and individual keyhole surrounds.
Paneled sides and a broad plinth base complete the architectural silhouette. Its combined bookcase, writing desk, and storage reflect the practical design of traditional secretary furniture, while visible wear and surface marks add character throughout.
41” W x 18” D x 78” H
Note: Repair has been made to slant-front desk top. See photo of horizontal crack spanning left to right. Repair successfully made and is functional again. There is also a crack in one glass pane near the top scallop; about 1-2” wide.
(Hutch is two pieces. Mounting/securing top hutch to base and/or wall is recommended for safety.)
