Beautiful antique primitive cupboard with incredible age, character, and original patina. Estimated to date to the late 19th to early 20th century, likely circa 1880–1910.
This is a substantial cupboard featuring narrow beadboard construction, paneled/battened doors, original-style surface-mounted hardware, interior shelving, and a simple architectural cornice along the top. The old creamy painted finish has worn naturally over time, revealing layers of wood and paint underneath and giving the piece a beautifully authentic, timeworn appearance that simply can’t be replicated with a newer reproduction.
The upper cabinet offers generous open shelving behind two tall doors, while the lower cabinet provides additional concealed storage. The deep work surface between the upper and lower sections gives it the classic proportions of an old kitchen or farmhouse cupboard.
There is significant age-related wear throughout, including areas of worn and chipped paint, discoloration, scratches, imperfections, and irregularities consistent with a piece of this age.
Piece would serve beautifully as a kitchen cupboard, linen cabinet, dining room hutch, pantry storage, or oversized display cabinet.
Dimensions: 41.5” W x 19.5” D x 73.5” H
