Beautiful vintage dry sink with lots of utilitarian character. Originally designed as a washstand before indoor plumbing became commonplace, dry sinks provided a dedicated place for a wash basin and pitcher, with enclosed storage below for household necessities.
This piece retains that distinctive form, with a tall gallery back, deep open well across the top, paneled cabinet doors, interior shelving, and decorative iron butterfly-style hinges. The warm wood has developed a rich, varied patina that highlights the grain, knots, age marks, and construction of the piece.
Its straightforward construction and lack of ornamentation give it an early American primitive aesthetic—substantial and beautifully imperfect without feeling overly rustic. Today it would make a particularly striking bar cabinet, entry piece, bathroom storage cabinet, or small kitchen server.
